Our Story

Where Heritage Is Honoured, and Legacy Is Lived

Martha’s Farmhouse is a story of land, legacy and the quiet, determined strength of a woman who held onto hope long before her children understood what that hope would become.

In 1949, when our grandfather passed away, he left behind his six-year-old daughter, Martha and a small piece of land. Orphaned soon after and later a single mother of three, Martha carried the weight of responsibility with courage and grace. Though life offered more questions than answers, she never let go of the land she inherited. She protected it through decades of uncertainty, guided by intuition, pride and unwavering belief. When she passed in 1999, she entrusted that land to her children, leaving a legacy far greater than she could have imagined.

From the soil she safeguarded, Martha’s Farmhouse, Martha’s Barn and Martha’s Farmhouse Coffee were born. Together they form a living tribute to her resilience and a celebration of everything she stood for.

Martha’s Farmhouse was the beginning. Built in her honour, it became a sanctuary of peace and warmth, a place where comfort meets heritage and where guests can breathe deeply, reconnect and return to what matters. Nestled in the rolling hills of Uganda, it offers a serene countryside escape, with mornings shaped by birdsong, gentle light and freshly roasted coffee. Every detail reflects the woman who inspired it.

As travellers from around the world found rest at the Farmhouse, a new vision emerged. Martha’s Barn was created to expand the experience, offering a bold and contemporary space for gatherings, celebrations and retreats. With sweeping views, open spaces and elegant design, the Barn brings people together for moments that stay with them. It is a natural complement to the Farmhouse, blending heritage with creativity and a sense of convening.

From these beginnings, Martha’s Farmhouse has grown into a focused luxury hospitality and organic produce brand. At its heart is Martha’s Farmhouse Coffee, grown on the very land Martha protected. Each bean carries her story. Our Arabica and Robusta reflect care, craft and connection to place, honouring the farmers who nurture the crop and the legacy that shaped it. Guests enjoy it during their stay and take it home as a taste of Uganda’s rich soil and Martha’s enduring spirit.

Martha’s Farmhouse is more than a destination. It is a family journey told through hospitality, landscape and flavour. What began as a private home has become a collection of experiences that welcome travellers, creatives and convenors from around the world. From tranquil stays to memorable gatherings and immersive coffee moments, everything we offer is crafted with intention, shaped by heritage and enriched by love.

Come for the beauty. Stay for the feeling. Leave with a memory that becomes part of your own story.
